Flea foggers (or ‘flea bombs’ as they’re popularly known) are spray cans filled with aerosol and insecticide. They are one of the easiest ways to get rid of fleas. All you need to do is point-and-spray!
Flea foggers are usually quite potent and can easily kill adult fleas and flea larvae.
A flea fogger is quite easy to use as all you really need to do is point the spray can at your furniture, carpets, rugs, or other flea-ridden areas and press the button to release a fine mist of insecticide that will immediately kill the fleas.
Although flea foggers are a great way to combat infestation, they’re not always one hundred percent effective. A few dead fleas on the floor does not mean you’ve got them all. Without regular and diligent vacuuming of the house, the fleas might return again.
If you use flea foggers to spray a fine mist of insecticides on your carpets and rugs, it might be a good idea to wash them thoroughly later on otherwise you may be exposed to potentially harmful chemicals inside the spray can.
Keep cutlery and silverware and all food items outside of the immediate vicinity of the spray mist or cover them with a plastic sheet unless you want them contaminated with insecticide. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after using the flea fogger as certain spray cans are prone to leakage and the chemicals inside might contaminate your hands. If tour skin comes into contact with the insecticide, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water.
While flea foggers are a quick and easy way of getting rid of fleas, they can also be toxic to you and your pet if used excessively. Since the ingredients contained inside flea foggers are dangerous, you might want to take a look at alternative flea control methods that are less toxic.
